Coast fires in vital win

-

MEG McElligott has continued her hot NPL Women’s form while Lua Suero bagged her first goal of the season as Gold Coast United secured three crucial points at Capalaba.

Entering the Round 11 fixture on Saturday night nine points off the finals pace, eighth-placed United bounced back from last week’s 3-0 loss to Souths United to thump Capalaba 6-1.

A Mackenzie Akins goal gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at halftime, before McElligott struck four times and Suero once to seal United’s fourth victory of the season.

The haul took the season tally of 22-year-old McElligott to 22 goals in just nine games.

Gold Coast will now prepare for Saturday’s 5pm clash with Logan Lightning at Robina.

Mudgeeraba, who hammered SWQ 5-0 yesterday, travel to Sunshine Coast.
