Bombers not yet finding a groove
THE Burleigh Bombers have the most potent goal kicker in the QFA division one competition this season but are still searching for consistency and their first win.
The Bombers dropped their third straight game on Saturday, losing their Round 3 clash with Springwood Pumas 15.15 (105) to 13.6 (84) at Lowe Oval.
Not even a seven-goal effort from recruit and strong forward Calhan Mcqueen could sway the game in Burleigh’s favour after giving Springwood a four-goal headstart in the first quarter.
Mcqueen has now kicked 15 goals so far this season to lead the competition but Burleigh coach Greg Mitchell said the young side was still a work in progress.
“We have got to play four quarters, not three,” Mitchell said. “Springwood are a top five side. When we play footy we can play but it’s just about concentrating for the full game. They are young but they will be better for it. Calhan is a good player. He knows how to read the ball well, is very quick and has a good recovery.”
