TOPGOLF’S DRIVE TO RECRUIT STAFF New attraction at Movie World seeking to hire 400 people ahead of grand opening in June
TOPGOLF Gold Coast has launched a recruitment drive for 400 workers as the $35 million attraction prepares to open in June.
The game-changing global sports entertainment experience, Australia’s first Topgolf facility, sits on a 6ha site adjacent to Warner Bros Movie World at Oxenford.
Village Roadshow Theme Parks CEO Clark Kirby said 400 jobs from food and beverage to operations and golf were up for grabs at Topgolf Gold Coast.
“We are searching for energetic people to join the team to bring the venue to life in what is going to be one of the most sought-after positions on the Coast.”
Topgolf will feature multilevel climate-controlled hitting bays, microchipped balls and real-time feedback for players of all ages and abilities, including nongolfers. The venue will have a chef-driven menu, drinks, big screen TVs and private event spaces for kids and families, social leagues, groups, golf tournaments and instruction.
Topgolf Gold Coast director of operations Michelle Erasmus, a former operations manager at Movie World, said people didn’t need to know how to play golf to apply for a job.
“I moved over from the theme park and was a great example of a typical Topgolf guest,” she said.
“You don’t have to be able to play golf or know golf. I’d never picked up a club before I went to a Topgolf.”
Jobs on offer include casual, temporary and parttime positions as bartenders, bay hosts, caddies and golf services associates, with the attraction to choose its workforce via a series of “recruitment events”.
The events will see applicants spend two to four hours navigating a series of group activities at the events – from panel interviews and one-on-one conversations with venue leadership teams to participating in games.
