SURF FORECAST

A mix of small-scale E and SSE swells maintain surf around the 2 to near 3ft mark across exposed areas today, before both swells gradually fade Wednesday/ Thursday.

A steep rise in S swell is likely to follow throughout Friday under strong southerly winds; speculatively reaching solid 3 to 6ft levels across northern NSW and holding this size early Saturday.

This pulse may ease throughout Saturday ahead of a reinforcing round of SSE swell arriving Sunday/ Monday.

TODAY

Small-scale E and S swells mixing with slight SSE windswell. combines with easing SSE groundswell. Ranging from 1 to 3ft northern NSW and southern Queensland exposed breaks, grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: Early SW inshore, tending SSW 10 to 20 knots and lighter S to SE later.

TOMORROW

Combination of small-scale E swell and fading S windswell. Ranging from 1 to 3ft along northern NSW exposed breaks. E swell around 2ft southern Queensland’s exposed beaches, wrapping in at lower levels inside the points and bays. WIND: Early SW to SSW inshore,

tending light and variable during the afternoon.

THURSDAY

Mix of slight E and SSE swells. Around 2ft exposed breaks, grading smaller inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early lighter W to SW inshore, tending variable, then light S/SE 5 to 15 knots.

FRIDAY

Potential for a steep rising S windswell. Speculatively 2 to 3ft+ northern NSW south facing beaches, building to 3 to 5ft during the afternoon. Tiny across southern Queensland’s exposed breaks, picking up to 2ft+ later. Mixing with slight E swell at 1ft or so along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Early light SSW to SW inshore, tending S 15 to 25 knots during the morning.

SATURDAY

Potential for solid SSE swell. Speculatively 4 to 6ft northern NSW exposed breaks. Wrapping at 2 to 4ft southern Queensland’s exposed beaches, smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: SSW 10 to 20 knots inshore, tending SSE later.
