FIORINI FEELS SUNNY OPTIMISM AGAINST CROWS

- TOM BOSWELL tom.boswell@news.com.au

GOLD Coast midfielder Brayden Fiorini has declared the Suns will bring QClash-style pressure to Adelaide Oval on Saturday when they will try to make history.

The Suns are yet to beat the Crows from 10 premiership games since their inception into the AFL in 2011, with two of their losses in front of more than 40,000 spectators at Adelaide Oval.

Gold Coast are coming off a tight five-point win over Brisbane to sit at 3-2 and on equal points with Adelaide who have wins over reigning premiers Richmond, St Kilda and most recently Sydney while falling to Essendon and Collingwood.

Fiorini said the return of Gold Coast’s pressure in their win over the Lions had them convinced an upset was on the cards in their Round 6 meeting in Adelaide.

“They are a really good side but this year has already shown anyone is beatable,” Fiorini said. “We will bring our best pressure that we had (against Brisbane) and over the first two weeks. We will give it a red-hot crack.”

Fiorini, 20, was one of Gold Coast’s best in what was his first QClash in his three seasons at the Suns.

He had a team-high 27 disposals and kicked two goals in a clash that went down to the game’s last kick.

“It was a good atmosphere and a good game to be part of,” Fiorini said.

“It was a hard fight in the end and sometimes you have to win like that but I’m really proud of the boys.

“It was a lot more physical than other games.

“We knew they would bounce back from last week, as would we, and we knew we had to bring the heat that we brought in the first two weeks (against North Melbourne and Carlton). “I thought we did that. “We always knew they would come back as us and the boys showed resilience to stick in there.”
