STUDENT STEPS UP AS WORLD-CLASS DANCERS HIT SURFERS

- KATE PARASKEVOS

YOUNG Kylie Odanaka has been dancing since she was three years old.

The 11-year-old Merrimac State School student will bust her best moves in the Step Up Dance Competition, the Gold Coast’s only beachside dance eisteddfod, tomorrow. And she is keen to win. “My dance teacher told us about the competition and I really wanted to be a part of it,” she said.

“Dancing makes me so happy – even when I am down, it can make me happy – and it’s really awesome, I love it.”

Step Up is part of the Australian Dance Cup, where dancers from Australia and around the world will compete to take home $5000 in cash and prizes.

Dancers will dazzle crowds with their skills across all styles of dance.

A panel of industry professionals will judge this year’s event with Minx, Michael Fox, Kath Dougan and Matt Browning confirmed.
