Big crowds head north
ORGANISERS of some of northern Gold Coast’s Anzac Days services welcomed larger than expected crowds to this year commemorative events.
More than 2000 people attended the Maudsland dawn service at the QCWA Hall including a large contingent of veterans as well as young children.
Co-ordinator Geoff Benson said the service was “absolutely beautiful’.
The North Gold Coast RSL’s dawn and midmorning services recorded their bestever crowds.
Branch secretary Melanie Annanz said she was impressed by the number of people who attended.
“It was probably our biggest in terms of patronage and there was a great community involvement,” she said.
