Flipping good fun at the RSL

- NICHOLAS MCELROY

TWO-UP enthusiast Chris Gavan was a hit at the Southport RSL yesterday.

The Gold Coaster literally lost piles of cash betting on the annual Anzac Day tradition.

But that didn’t stop Mr Gavan from having a punt with a veteran who offered to bet him $5 on tails.

“Why not, you legend,” Gavan said. “It’s a day isn’t it?”

To which the veteran replied: “Mate, I love it.”

Earlier in the day Carrara resident Marina Babiolakis stood in the middle of the School and tried her hand at being the spinner for the first time. “It’s such a good experi- ence, it’s been an unbelievable day remembering the fallen,” Ms Babiolakis said.
