$3m Valley land sale
Melbourne’s Liberman family sells off site
A LARGE landholding in the Gold Coast’s picturesque Currumbin Valley approved for a residential subdivision has been snapped up by a local developer.
The 41.36ha slice of ‘green behind the gold’ has been acquired for $3.175 million by an entity linked to Tweed Coast-based Leisure Brothers’ Adam Leach.
It was offloaded by a company associated with one of the nation’s wealthiest property clans — the Melbournebased Liberman family, who last year shelled out $70 million for Byron Bay’s iconic Beach Hotel.
The lush parcel of undulating Hinterland fronts Currumbin Creek Rd and was sold with approval in place for a 10-lot subdivision, each spanning about 4ha.
Geoff Lamb of Colliers International, who negotiated the recently-settled deal with McGrath’s Tony Holland, said the property attracted strong interest from local and interstate developers.
He said more than 30 inquiries were fielded resulting in three offers being put on the negotiating table at the end of the expressions-of-interest campaign.
“These opportunities come along very rarely,” Mr Lamb said. “This is the biggest landholding sold in Currumbin Valley for a while and land subdivisions are getting a bit scarce anywhere around here.
“Very limited opportunities exist to build new dwellings in the Valley, with the last land release at the nearby Currumbin Eco Village now sold out.”
Currumbin Valley has evolved from a timber milling, dairy and banana farming area into one of the Coast’s most popular enclaves. The property at 1030 Currumbin Creek Rd features relatively flat land and gentle slopes increasing to moderate and then steeper slopes towards the northern perimeter of the property.
