A steep rise in S swell sets in throughout today under strong southerly winds; peaking at windblown 4 to 6ft plus levels across northern NSW exposed areas early Saturday, while wrapping into points and bays at cleaner, but much smaller levels.

This pulse eases from Sunday as swell direction tends SSE, probably reaching a low point of 2 to 3ft on Monday, preceding the arrival of a new SE pulse on Tuesday/ Wednesday. Strong SSW to SSE winds prevail throughout Friday and the weekend before moderating early to mid next week.

FRI

Steep rising S windswell. Speculativ­ely 2 to 3ft northern NSW south facing beaches, building to 3 to 4ft+ during the afternoon. Up to 1 to 2ft across southern Queensland’s exposed breaks, picking up to 2ft+ later. Mixing with slight E swell at 1ft or so along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Early SSW 15 to 25 knots inshore, tending S 20 to 30 knots during the day.

SAT

Large SSE windswell. Up to a windblown 4 to 6ft+ northern NSW exposed breaks. Wrapping at 3 to 4ft+ southern Queensland’s exposed beaches, smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: SSW 15 to 25 knots inshore, tending S during the morning and SSE during the day.

SUN

Easing SE swell. Around 3 to 5ft northern NSW coasts, grading to 3 to 4ft across southern Queensland exposed breaks, grading smaller inside the points and bays. WIND: Early SSW inshore, tending S 15 to 20 knots and SSE during the day.

MON

SSE swell. Ranging from 2 to 4ft along northern NSW exposed breaks. Wrapping at 2 to 3ft southern Queensland’s exposed beaches, grading to lower levels inside the points and bays. WIND: Early SW to SSW inshore, tending SSE during the afternoon.

TUE

Reinforcin­g SE swell. Speculativ­ely 3 to 4ft+ exposed northern NSW breaks, grading to 2 to 3ft+ southern Queensland beaches and smaller inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early lighter SW inshore, tending SSE 10 to 15 knots.
