Rudd resigns over untruth
BRITAIN’S interior minister Amber Rudd resigned on Sunday, admitting she “inadvertently misled” MPs about deportation targets, in a bodyblow to the government as it faces public outrage over the targeting of the so-called Windrush generation of migrants.
Rudd, who faced intensifying pressure over the treatment of elderly Commonwealth citizens primarily from the Caribbean, said last week that there were no targets for the removal of people deemed to be in the country illegally.
But documents emerged showing goals were in place.
