TEAM OF GOERS SO INSPIRING

- PEYTON HUTCHINS

LESS than one minute left on the clock – the countdown is on.

The crowd are on their feet as the Queensland Australian Football League for Women match between Bond Bullsharks and the Coolangatta Bluebirds draws to a gripping end.

One point behind and needing to score, somehow the Bullsharks find a way to get the ball to star player Tasmin Perry to end it all with terrific finish.

It seemed as if the sheer power of will and spirit had overcome everything Coolangatta had brought.

Recent Bond graduate Ally Evans, 22, said it was nice to play with such hardworking sportswomen.

“Everyone that comes through are really friendly, and we all get behind each other and bring something different to the table,” she said. “With women’s sport we all really have each others backs.”

When the girls huddle together in the quarter and half-time breaks, Ally said they give each other inspiring quotes making it the best part of playing the game.

“It’s so exciting that we’ve been given such an amazing opportunity to play such a well-known sport in Australia. I can’t wait to see what the season holds for us.”

The Bond women are the youngest team in the QAFLW, and are known to give every game their best shot.
