Ex-radio boss announced as new fund chair

-

A CHARITY headed by big business executives has welcomed Nick Scott as its new chairman.

The Gold Coast Community Fund’s outgoing chairman Rutland Smith was in the role for four years, before deciding to stand down this year.

He said he had no doubt Mr Scott would continue the success of the charity as its new leader.

“Nick is an ex-general manager of Southern Cross Media on the Gold Coast,” Mr Smith said. “He has a lot of contacts with the community and business experience.

“He’s been on numerous different boards on the Gold Coast: Gold Coast Tourism, the Commonwealth Games Legacy. I have every confidence he will take it (the fund) to the next level.”

The Community Fund was established 18 years ago and donates money to those affected by hardship, including the homeless, disabled and sick.

Mr Smith said during his four years, the fund helped to raise and donate about $1 million to a variety of groups and individuals.
