Hungry Wolves look to kick start their season

-

KINGSCLIFF are marking down their Round 1 mauling as an aberration ahead of another major Women’s League test against Broadbeach 1 tonight.

Hammered 12-1 by Musgrave on April 22 before a bye in Round 2, the Wolves will travel to Nikiforides Family Park for an 8.15pm clash against a Dolphins outfit riding high after back-to-back wins.

But, new coach Matt Noble is confident his side’s worst performance is behind them.

“It was hard (in Round 1) because that was game was played when the NSW holidays were on so we had about five players away. We actually didn’t field 11 that game but the way the girls have been training the last two or three weeks, they’ve been great,” the 29-year-old, who also coaches the Wolves’ under-16 girls’ team, said.

“The attitude has been great and all the girls are excited to now play a game and have the season start. Hopefully a good performance on Friday can kickstart our season. “We’ve got quite a few new players so it’s important that the girls get off to a good start this season. Last year the girls did very well but they’re all still a young age so for them it’s a big learning curve (coming into the Women’s League).”

In tonight’s other fixture, Broadbeach 2 hosts fellow winless side Palm Beach at 6.15pm.

Tomorrow, ladder-leading Southport 2 will take on midtable Robina 2 at Ashmore at 1.45pm before the Robina 1 v Southport 1 battle at 4pm.

Nerang will host Coomera at 3pm on Sunday.
