Sears has a Dazzler in ranks for owner Moo

TONY Sears will look to begin another successful partnership with Singapore horse owner Melvin Moo when Dazzling Red makes his debut for the Toowoomba trainer at the Gold Coast today.

The pair combined to win two Listed races with Pardoe at the winter carnival in Brisbane last year.

Pardoe’s two wins were part of four straight victories for the three-year-old gelding, who was then sold to Hong Kong.

The duo’s winning formula meant Sears was the first Moo looked to when Dazzling Red needed a new trainer following his latest spell this year.

The three-year-old won three straight races last preparation for Brisbane trainer Chris Munce, including one at Doomben, before finishing eighth and seventh in a disappointing end to his campaign in December.

He will resume in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (900m) at Aquis Park today.

Sears knew little about the horse’s history before arriving at his stables but he said Dazzling Red hadn’t put a foot wrong during work.

“He is doing everything right,” Sears said. “He looks like a nice horse.

“He came to me in good condition and had a spell before he arrived. He is going along well.”

Dazzling Red hasn’t had a jumpout or trial but Sears is confident of winning QTIS prizemoney.

“I just thought it was easy enough and he would only trial over 900m anyway,” he said.
