Jailed over gun imports

-

A MELBOURNE man has been jailed for at least six years for importing “truly terrifying” machine guns from the United States capable of rapidly killing hundreds of people.

Paul Munro, 64, was yesterday jailed for 10 years and three months, with a non-parole period of six years, for importing Thureon fully automatic rifles that can fire up to 1000 rounds per minute, as well as gun parts and frames.

“The Thureon … is a truly terrifying weapon. It has no use other than a mass killing machine,” Victoria County Court judge Douglas Trapnell said.
