Trolley full of grass ignites

THREE boys are accused of putting dry grass in a shopping trolley and setting it alight, sparking a bushfire that authorities failed to alert nearby residents to until two hours after video was posted on social media.

Police say the teenagers tipped the trolley over in an effort to extinguish the fire but the flames ignited more scrub and were spread by strong winds, burning about 25ha in the Perth suburb of Aveley on Saturday.

A 15-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys, all from Ellenbrook, have been charged.
