Oneness up for rematch

- TOM BOSWELL

GOLD Coast gelding Oneness is set for a return clash with smart Godolphin three-yearold Marsupial at Doomben on Saturday.

Trainer Mel Eggleston has accepted with Oneness for the Listed Queensland Day Stakes (1350m) after watching his horse finish a half-length second to Marsupial at Doomben on April 28.

Oneness led and responded when Marsupial passed on the inside.

“I was very happy with his run,” Eggleston said of Oneness, who has four wins and two seconds from his eight starts to date.

“We will give him another throw at the dice in Brisbane.

“It was a pretty good effort and I’m hoping the horse that beat him won’t be in the race.

Eggleston conceded Marsupial was “pretty smart” but said his horse had upside.

“He did all the donkey work and I think if he would have got a softer lead he might have just pinched it,” he said.

“He just had to do that little bit more work going into that turn where he started out a bit but it just told in that last 50m.”
