Telstra recalls ZTE
TELSTRA is immediately halting the sale of its Telstrabranded mobiles and mobile broadband devices from Chinese maker ZTE, following the shutdown of some of the Chinese supplier’s operations.
Last month the US banned its companies from supplying the telecommunications product maker ZTE, alleging the Chinese giant breached a sanctions settlement, forcing a partial shutdown of the telco parts maker that effectively prevents ZTE from supplying Telstra’s range of 18 self-branded smartphones. In a statement on its website, Telstra said it will contact impacted customers and apologised for the “temporary reduction in device options.”
