Hope Is centre’s new shops

-

THE Gold Coast’s retail property sector is ramping up in the city’s northern growth corridor.

Westfield’s Coomera Town Centre is on track to open its $470 million first stage by Christmas and the new $65 million Hope Island Marketplace is also well underway.

Leasing deals have been struck by a host of local, national and international retailers in the two-level, 10,000sq m Hope Island centre that will be anchored by two supermarkets — a 4000sq m Woolworths and 1650sq m Aldi.

LJ Hooker Commercial Gold Coast and CBRE Gold Coast are jointly marketing the shopping centre, which also is due to open later this year.

“A major coup for the centre was securing a large format AMCAL Pharmacy and Medical Centre”, LJ Hooker’s Ashley Moffat said.

“This tenant will essentially be the ‘mini major’ for the centre and, being more than 550sq m, will provide a full line pharmaceutical and medical offering.” Rental rates achieved so far have been $800-1200sq m net based on whether it’s an internal or external tenancy. Office space is fetching $550sq m net. CBRE’s Rudi Scutti said the centre also had secured the very first Carl’s Jnr Drive Thru for the Gold Coast.
