LE BROCQ KEEN TO GET HANDS DIRTY WORKING

- CONNOR O’BRIEN @obrien_GCB

GOLD Coast rookie Jack Le Brocq is planning to steer clear of the glamorous lifestyle associated with being a Supercars driver and return to the workforce.

Prior to being picked up by Tekno Autosports for this season, Le Brocq spent the previous nine years balancing full-time work with his motorsport aspirations – first as a mechanic and then with his father’s shop-fitting business.

While he is loving the Supercars life, the 25-yearold is keen to keep busy with the extra time he now has on his hands.

“I’ve gone from working full-time since I was 16, so I find myself getting quite bored and come (to the factory) and annoy everyone for no particular reason,” he laughed. “I am actually looking around for some work. Dad has got a few shop-fitting mates up here so I will probably do a couple of days here and there just to keep busy.

“I don’t mind the shopfitting/cabinet-making side of things, it’s something a bit different. It’s one of those things where it just takes your mind away from racing.

“The biggest thing at times I find myself overthinking a lot of things. It’s one of those things where you can try to get away from it and think about something else for a day.”

Le Brocq, originally from Melbourne, is also set to get stuck into mountain biking and surfing.

“I used to do a lot of mountain biking,” he said. “I used to go a few times a week for a few years.

“I brought all that up with me so I need to get out there at some stage.”
