Andy sees benefits down track

ANDY Fraser never got to see his mare Star Of Kristle race but he is finding success with her progeny.

The part-owner of the Rex Lipp-trained Supersonic Boom watched the colt win the QTIS Two-Year-Old Class 3 Plate (900m) at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday. It was his second straight win.

Fraser was just happy to see the son of Spirit Of Boom and Star Of Kristle appear in a race after never getting the chance to see his dam run. His victories are an added bonus.

“His mother never raced,” the Toowoomba resident said.

“She knew when it was time to race and she would hurt herself. We got her in foal and we have done well out of her progeny.”

Fraser also has shares in Star Of Kristle’s other progeny Seq The Star, Rotindy and the unraced Ruby.

Five-year-old mare Seq The Star has five wins to her name, while four-year-old mare Rotindy won a maiden at the Gold Coast in November last year.

Fraser is a farrier for Lipp and despite conceding he has owned many slow horses, he hopes Supersonic Boom can one day reach the level that will put him in metropolitan races in Brisbane.

“Hopefully he might be a town horse when he comes back from a spell,” Fraser said. “We will aim for the top.” Ryan Plumb rode Supersonic Boom on Saturday in what he labelled one of the easiest wins of his career.

“He did nothing wrong,” Plumb said. “He travelled really easy and put them away well.”

Supersonic ($2) jumped well in a field of five and never looked challenged, strolling home by more than two lengths from Aetherius ($12).
