Final run to make Oaks starting list

-

GOLD Coast Father and son training partners Bryan and Daniel Guy will start Protest in a midweek race at the Sunshine Coast in the hope she can earn the necessary prize money to get her into the Queensland Oaks.

The Guys are convinced Protest is up to the Group One Oaks but they have been hamstrung trying to qualify her for the race.

Protest has won $18,100 in prize money and will need a boost to make the Oaks field on May 26 at Doomben.

They had hoped she would get a place in the Aquis Bracelet two weeks ago or The Roses on Saturday in an attempt to boost her prize money.

In both races she was an emergency and failed to make the field on race day.

The Guys have accepted with Protest for two races at the Sunshine Coast tomorrow, a Class One and a Three-YearOld Handicap.

Both races are at 2200m which is also the distance of the Oaks. Protest was good at her first two runs back from a spell finishing fifth at Doomben on a wet track and fourth in the Listed Princess Stakes at the Sunshine Coast.

She disappointed as favourite when sixth in a Class One at the Sunshine Coast over 1600m two weeks ago.
