Bug bites for coach Stuart
THE coaching bug is proving hard to shake for Paula Stuart.
After three seasons away from Golden South’s Queensland State Netball League set up, Stuart has returned to the coaching role she held for six years.
Her first incarnation as Jags coach was highlighted by a runner-up finish in 2009 and her desire to lead the side’s division 1 revival has now sparked her return.
“I had three years off just to catch up with family life. I did do some work with Netball Australia and did a lot of coaching clinics around Queensland … but I’ve missed the games and being in a team so I wanted to come back,” Stuart, who travels from Brisbane’s northside for training twice a week, said.
“The Coast gave me an opportunity nine years ago and I’ve liked the region so much I’ve decided to commute. (The change) was good but you can only do so many clinics, I need that adrenaline from having a team again.
“I’ve picked it up pretty quickly, not much had changed. There was still some of the girls that I was looking at three or four years ago that have come through so it’s been easy for me to transition. “It was time for me to come back.”
