Road toll up on last year

-

SEVEN more people have died this year on Queensland roads than the same time last year.

Eighty-seven people have died in 2018, compared to 80 last year.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey said the higher toll was concerning and urged Gold Coasters to support the Australian Road Safety Foundation’s Fatality Free Friday.

On May 25, people are asked to take extra care on the roads to ensure there are no fatalities that day in a bid to ensure safer driving throughout the rest of the year.
