Czech rival KOs talk of Horn benefits
LIAM Paro has sparred more than 100 rounds with Jeff Horn but that won’t help the young Brisbane fighter in his own world-title shot on the Gold Coast on Saturday night.
That’s the opinion of his lanky Czech opponent Sebastian Bytyqi, who will slug it out with Brisbane boxing’s boy wonder at the Southport Sharks for the world youth super-lightweight title on a huge night of boxing.
Paro came face to fist with the confident young foe yesterday at the Eastside Gym in West End. Bytyqi is in Brisbane with his coach Lukas Konecny, his country’s greatest ever fighter – a former world super-welterweight champ and Sydney Olympian.
“Liam has been sparring with Horn but I have been doing a lot of sparring with a world champion, too,’’ said Bytyqi, who has 11 wins and a draw in 12 pro fights after a long career as a kickboxer.
“My coach was a great world champ and he is a lot bigger and heavier than Jeff Horn. We spar all the time.’’
Southpaw Paro, 22, who won the Australian lightwelterweight title in his last fight, is undefeated in 13.
