WILBUR’S A PIGGY IN MIDDLE OF SUBURBIA

-

WILBUR is not your average backyard pet, but the four-month-old piglet feels at home among his canine buddies and even gives them a run when it comes to showing off for treats.

He was found wandering through Southport where he was picked up by the pound, but since animal officers can’t find his owners, the cheeky pig was put up for adoption.

He has made himself comfortable at his new stomping ground, the Animal Welfare League farm at Stapylton, which he shares with a handful of chickens who are also looking for homes.

The league said it was obvious Wilbur was being raised much like a dog or cat and it is believed he may have escaped, or been released by his former owners since pigs aren’t allowed in many suburbs.

“It is evident he has been well cared for. How he ended up in a suburban area like Southport is a real mystery,” said state rehoming manager Melinda Phipps.
