LIFTER PUTS EVERYTHING ON THE LINE

WEIGHTLIFTER Barbara Chng left nothing in the tank in her pursuit of a world title yesterday.

The Singaporean lifter claimed the lightweight division of the Static Monsters World Championship event at the Home of the Arts as 22 international contestants competed for top honours.

Her total lift of 285kg was no accident but the intense pressure on her body over the course of the competition did cause something of an accident.

Event organiser Chad Croft said wetting yourself when deadlifting was a very common thing that occurs among women.

“It’s all the built-up pressure in the pelvic area that causes them to wet themselves,” Mr Croft said.

“If you were to come to the gym and do it, no one would look at you strangely it’s just something that happens.”

The Static Monsters is now the largest strongman event of its kind in the world and organisers expect the disciple to continue to go from strength to strength.
