Sheep export ban support

THE Australian Greens believe there could be the numbers in Federal Parliament to end live sheep exports.

Former Cabinet minister Sussan Ley is expected to introduce a Bill this week to have the practice stopped.

“I think within the next couple of weeks we’re on the verge of seeing some action and I think if we’re able to bring the Bill on for a vote, I think there’s a very real prospect that it could pass both houses of parliament in the coming month,” Greens MP Adam Bandt told Sky News yesterday.
