A fairer go for dealers
THE peak body for the motor trades sector says that the franchising code of conduct needs to be reformed to protect dealers.
Motor Trades Association of Australia chief executive Richard Dudley said the current code was not adequate when car companies wanted to impose unfair franchising arrangements on dealers.
The MTAA was one of more than 60 franchisees, franchisors, academics and peak bodies to make submissions to the Senate inquiry, which was called after complaints that some franchisors were not dealing fairly with their franchisees.
