Champagne Garden (Race 1) It definitely wasn’t the easiest watch for punters that took the short price but Champagne Garden got his nose in front at the right time. It would not surprise to see the gelding string together a few wins.
Springtime Love (Race 3) Springtime Love was the third odds-on favourite to salute on the trot and was another popular winner for punters. She led from start to finish and was nothing short of dominant. This should be the first of many wins
Impulsive (Race 5)
Riding Impulsive back in the field proved to be a winning play for Glen Colless. She kept on finding and recorded a softer win than the margin suggests. A step-up in distance will not be an issue. LOSERS
Lady Eighty Eight (Race 8) Lady Eighty Eight made up some ground in the concluding stages of the race but never looked like a genuine winning hope. Her racing style means that she always requires luck in running and it wouldn’t surprise to see her go around at under the odds next start.
Pegapus (Race 9)
A shocking effort from a horse that was well-backed. She was under heavy riding a long way from home and simply didn’t respond. A puzzling performance and it will be tough to support her at her next start.
NEXT TIME
Ahwahneecheen (Race 2)
It took a fairly freakish effort from Bluebrook to deny him a maiden race win and a victory is surely just around the corner. He is still a green horse with plenty to learn, but once he puts it all together he will be a serious player.
Wrapped (Race 4)
Wrapped was slow out of the gates and that probably cost him victory. He loomed as the winner and was just unable to finish off the job. He will be tough to beat if he is able to jump with the field at his next race start.
