Bears, Magpies in a Pizzey thriller

-

BURLEIGH are still searching for a perfect performance after stumbling to a 16-16 draw against Souths Magpies yesterday.

The Bears were leading deep into the SEQ Women’s Division One contest at Pizzey Park until the Magpies swooped late.

“There was two tries that we bombed and then they just had some broken play, we gave away a couple of penalties and they got down our end and scored,” coach Tahnee Norris said. “We just lacked discipline at times.

“We played some really good footy for about 60 minutes of the game, we just didn’t finish it off.”

Norris said she is looking for more from both her forwards and backs as they attempt to keep their premiership defence on track.

Burleigh are in fourth place – which is the minimum cut-off to make finals – after Round 8 but are only three points behind leaders Easts.

They will host cellar dwellers Toowoomba at Pizzey Park this Saturday from 12.30pm.
