Coast hairdressers a cut above
WITH the Commonwealth Games a memory, the new hottest race in town is for the Gold Coast’s best hairdresser crown.
The Bulletin’s Best of the Gold Coast hairdresser poll for 2018 has been inundated, first with nominations of around 100 stylists and now with votes for the 30 who’ve made the cut.
The online poll recorded more than 2000 votes in just its first 24 hours, the highest response of any of the Best of the Gold Coast categories, and there’s no sign of enthusiasm waning in the run-in to close of voting on Monday. Gold Coast School of Hairdressing general manager Tina Palazzotto said the public response comes as no surprise as hairdressers are more than just tradespeople.
“They can be friends and confidantes,” she said. “There is a unique personal relationship between a hairdresser and their clients. There’s a lot of trust there.”
Two-time Best of the Gold Coast title winner Kirra Longmuir of Trendz Hair Studio at Bundall said people are not just voting for a hairdresser, they’re supporting a friend.
“Hairdressers can help people through tough times in their lives so I think people see the poll as backing a friend up in return,” she said.
Kirra is in the running to add a third title to her name this year.
She puts her past successes down to being passionate about her work.
“I put 100 per cent into every guest that comes into the salon because they’re our walking advertisements,” she said.
Voting for the Gold Coast’s best hairdresser is open at goldcoastbulletin.com.au until 10am on Monday.
