JACKSON JUMPS INTO LIFE WITH UNITED YOUTH

-

ONE of the heroes of Palm Beach’s magical 2015 FFA Cup run has returned to the Glitter Strip to guide the next generation of Gold Coast United stars.

Head coach at Strength Training Systems, former Shark Tim Jackson has linked with United to provide strength and conditioning sessions for all Skill Acquisition Program and NPL Academy players.

A product of northern NSW, Jackson joined exNPL outfit Palm Beach in 2015, playing a key role in their penalty shootout win over South Melbourne in the FFA Cup’s Round of 32.

Growing business commitments sparked a return to Brisbane, where he attended high school, at the beginning of 2017.

But with a focus on running technique, he is ready to lend a hand to United’s emerging brigade.

“My coaching has a particular emphasis on how a player runs and a focus on improving sprint mechanics, reducing injury risk through improving technique,” Jackson said.

“I’ll be working for around 30 minutes a week with each squad on speed, agility and quickness as well as mobility, co-ordination and strength on the ball. I’ll also be doing some basic baseline testing to set a benchmark, to use that to measure performance throughout the season.”

United technical director Craig Midgley said Jackson’s influence would help the club “outperform the opposition”.
