SUN STILL SHINING ON VOLUNTEERS

- AMANDA ROBBEMOND

COMMONWEALTH Games volunteers will be treated to a free Suns game as well as entertainment as a way for the AFL club to say thanks for their hard work.

More than 15,000 took part in the Gold Coast event last month and this was one way the Suns could thank them for their tireless efforts, communication and marketing manager Steve Wilson told the Bulletin.

“We’ve invited all the volunteers back to Metricon Stadium for a game against Geelong,” he said.

“We’ve got Amy Shark, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Welcome to Country and smoking performance, we’ll reveal our new female mascot, fireworks and roaming entertainment around the precinct as well.”

He said the club felt it was important to thank volunteers as they had been the “lifeblood” of the Games.

Pre-game entertainment begins at 3.45pm on Saturday, June 2.
