PULL IN AND PILL UP AT PHARMACY

- DENIS DOHERTY

A STRUGGLING mum with a sick child has provided the inspiration for a new drive-through pharmacy.

Day Night Chemist in Broadbeach is offering kerbside service for customers’ prescription and over-the-counter medicine needs.

Third generation pharmacist Julia Clare, who owns the store, said the idea for the service came to her thanks to a mother with a sick child.

“We had a customer who called the pharmacy and said ‘I just can’t get out of car because of my sick child, can you help me?’” said Ms Clare.

One sympathetic staff member with a handheld EFTPOS machine later and an idea was born.

“For a lot of our elderly clients it’s difficult to park and they may be on Zimmer frames or other walkers so it’s difficult for them to get into a store,” she said.

“Also if you have toddlers and you don’t want to go in you can call the pharmacist and get full service from the window of your car.”

Ms Clare said there was plenty of pull up space in both Queensland Ave and Main Place for the store to operate.
