AN ex-Ray White agent is putting his family at the heart of his new business venture.

Former Ray White Surfers Paradise industrial team leader Steve Macgregor, who recently helped to negotiate the sale of Retail Food Group’s property assets on the Gold Coast, has launched Commercial 1 Gold Coast.

He will work side-by-side with daughter Katie Rossi and son Ryan Macgregor at the business, which launches today.

“We have gone as far as we can go in the Ray White Group,” he said.

“I was team leader for the past four years of the Ray White Industrial arm.

“It was not working for our family. Katie has twins, they are nearly two, and they are a handful. She also does all our administration work and is our PA. It was too disjointed for us. So it is easier for her and us if we run our own show.”

Mr Macgregor said he left Ray White with no bad blood.

“We have left very amicably. We are friends of Ray White. We have spoken to both Dan and Brian White and they have wished us well.”

He said the business will be based at his house at Sorrento, before shifting later to more fitting premises.

“Our core business has been industrial over the past 11 years but we have done a lot of commercial sites as well. And one of our biggest achievements has been selling the former Gold Coast Bulletin site in Molendinar. That could be classed as commercial or industrial. And we have recently sold all of RFG’s assets. That was a big one.”

He said he didn’t want to use the label “boutique”, highly popular in the industry now.

“I hate that word boutique. We are a family-owned and operated commercial business that is going to provide awesome service for all our clients. We have lost touch with a couple who have reconnected since they have known of our plans to go solo.”

The agency will launch with a marketing campaign for Lawrence Reece’s strata project at 8 Production Ave. Mr Macgregor said three of the units have sold off-the-plan so far.
