AUCTIONEER Nigel Long had a tough audience to deal with at a recent Colliers Gold Coast auction.

Agent Lian Lee was talking to a party via phone when one bidder decided to start questioning who was vying for the property alongside him.

“Who is the bidder?” he said. “What is his number?” Mr Long told him the number before asking pointedly: “are you from the Office of Fair Trading sir?”

Despite the interruption a deal was done and dusted at $1.18 million.
