Room for expansion

-

NORTH Lakes — the boom town up the Bruce Highway from Brisbane — is set to join the southeast Queensland’s hotel room boom.

The US-based global hotel giant Wyndham has booked its space in the rapidly expanding precinct.

It will unveil plans today for its second TRYP by Wyndham property in Australia as part of the Moreton Bay Region’s $250 million Laguna North Lakes project.

Site works on the 138-room TRYP North Lakes are expected to begin later this year and it is slated to open its doors by mid to late 2021.

It follows the success of Wyndham Group’s stylishly funky TRYP Fortitude Valley Hotel, which opened in 2014.

Since then, Brisbane’s hotel sector has grown by more than 4000 rooms with a further 1500 scheduled to come on line this year.

“Laguna North Lakes has been designed to be a vibrant and active destination,” Wyndham’s vice president hotel and resort operations/ property development, Matt Taplin, said.
