Godfreys CEO could be back on TV

-

JOHN Hardy, the star of vacuum cleaner retailer Godfreys’ famous bowling ball TV ads, hasn’t entirely ruled out a return to the small screen as he acts as chief executive of the company for a third time.

Mr Hardy, who was chief executive from 1983 to 2010 and again from mid-2016 to 2017, was on Friday appointed as interim chief executive at Godfreys, which is currently subject to a takeover bid by 99year-old founder John Johnston.

The returned CEO featured in Godfreys’ commercials in the 1990s.

As the face of the company for 35 years, 75-year-old Hardy joked about a return to household TV screens.

“I don’t think there is enough spackle for me to do them again ... but if that is what it takes to get the business back on track, then I am sure John Johnston will have me in front of the camera again,” he said.
