Jackpot Jay ($2.80 into $2.20) was heavily backed late and he delivered in style for punters. Luke Tarrant gave him a peach of a ride just behind the leaders and he responded in most impressive fashion when asked for an extra effort.
Hearts Lifted (Race 2)
It was a strong start to the day for punters as Hearts Lifted comfortably saluted as an oddson pop. The best part of her race was her final 200m and she looks as though she could be even better when she gets out over 1400m for the first time.
Snipstream (Race 8) Completed an excellent day for trainer Michael Costa with a dominant win. She blundered at the start and was taken on by Copywriter early, but she still showed a lovely turn-of-foot and the way that she ran away from her rivals in the concluding stages was most impressive. LOSERS
Calligrapher (Race 3)
This is the fifth time that Calligrapher has been beaten as a short-priced favourite on the Gold Coast and he has become a very costly horse for punters. He had every possible chance, but simply refused to go past Si Si Sequalo.
Mishani Vaidra (Race 6)
It was a horror watch for punters that backed Mishani Vaidra. She missed the start badly and then was caught three wide. She had already run her race before the turn and she was one of the first beaten.
NEXT TIME Bungaree Boy (Race 4) It was a gallant performance from Bungaree Boy and he was only run down by Delago Thunder in the shadows of the post. He clearly enjoys these short-course sprints and a win over the 900 metres at the Gold Coast is just around the corner.
Anzio (Race 7)
Laura Cheshire went for home a long way out on Anzio and he was gallant in defeat. He looked like a sitting duck at the top of the straight, but he kept on battling and pushed Geometrist – who had a lovely run in transit – all the way.
