Eagles aim for the top
GOLD Coast Eagles co-coach Jason North has declared his team are within reach of the competition’s top three after shoring up their chances of playing finals footy.
Currently fourth – which would be enough to make the play-offs come September – the Eagles have opened up a gap behind them following their 41-5 win over fifth-placed Coolangatta Tweed on Saturday.
“The likes of Helensvale and Surfers, these are definitely teams that we can beat,” North said. “They (the players) are really identifying that we can do it.”
However, despite the signs of promise, North feels there is much more room for improvement if they are to capitalise.
“We’re wasting our opportunities when we’re up against the bigger teams and we’re not sticking to the structure when we are playing against the smaller teams,” he said.
In other games, Griffith University Colleges maintained their unbeaten run with a comfortable 36-15 win over the Hogs and Surfers Paradise blitzed Palm Beach Currumbin 84-7.
