Motorbike rider seriously injured

-

A MAN riding a motorbike has broken his neck after being flung 10 metres following a collision with a ute in Oxenford.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 3.46pm when a ute travelling north on the Old Pacific Highway and the motorbike collided.

District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Tony Wormald said it was unclear whether the ute failed to see the motorcyclist or vice versa.

“They were both coming north,” he said. “We’ve no allegations of speed at this stage.”

He said the driver of the ute was uninjured but the motorbike rider was seriously hurt.

Three ambulances, including the High Acuity Response Unit were sent out to assess the man aged in his 30s. He was taken to Brisbane’s Princess Alexandra Hospital suffering head and spinal injuries.
