Day off not something Sam likes

-

SAM Day was the one Sun not looking forward to the bye.

History has taught the Suns forward his body prefers continuity in training and he says it has been tough to get going after the players were given last week off.

After missing the 2017 season because of a dislocated and fractured hip, Day could have been excused for hoping for a breather after playing the first eight games of the season.

However, a ban in Round 8 against Melbourne saw him miss the China trip and turned a one week break into two.

He concedes there may have been a point where he hit the wall and the break may have been the best thing for him, but right now with the layer of rust he accumulated from his rest it feels the exact opposite.

“Chatting to a few of our sports science guys we’ve decided for me continuity in training and getting the momentum from playing is better,” he said.

“And to get going over the past few days has actually been a bit of a struggle because I had that extra time off.

“We’ll have to see how I pull up after the game, but I can’t complain about how my body was going or my hip was feeling before the break.’’
