YOU have probably never heard of percebes, the Spanish seafood delicacy, and Mayoress Ruth Tate is now wishing the same. On their recent European holiday she and Tom were persuaded to try the alien looking items aka goose barnacles. “We were told that they were the best tasting seafood in the world – a cross between lobster and oyster – so we decided to give them a go. Sadly they looked horrendous and tasted even worse. Never again.”
