Shark: I’ll always Adore it on Coast

- AMBER MACPHERSON amber.macpherson@news.com.au

AMY Shark will always the Gold Coast home.

Despite being hassled daily to move to Melbourne, Australia’s cultural melting pot, the Broadbeach Waters songstress knows this is where she belongs.

“I get pressured to do that every day,” Shark said.

“What people don’t understand is this is always going to be my home.

“I travel so much, but nowhere’s ever going to feel like this.

“I’m a real creature of habit. It’s a healthy thing for an artist to have, to know where your base is and to love where that base is.”

Amy Shark, aka Amy Louise Billings, will be playing at the Metricon Stadium tomorrow as part the pre-game show at the first Suns home game of the season.

Celebrations at the Metricon will also include a tribute to Commonwealth Games volunteers before the Round 11 match against the Geelong Cats.

Shark shot to international stardom following the release of her track Adore, which was voted number two in Triple J’s Hottest 100 in 2016.

Since then her life has been a whirlwind, touring and playing at festivals in Europe and the US as well as performing on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and the Late Late Show with James Corden. call

This weekend will be her third performance on the Gold Coast in two months, and her second performance at the Metricon Stadium in the same time.

“The last time I was in that stadium was for the closing ceremony, this will be a whole different vibe,” she said.

“I’m in the grand stand which is epic, to play any stadium is a really big deal.

“I’m looking forward to seeing

everything in action and being in that stadium.”

Despite finishing up a tour of North America less than a week ago, Shark said she wanted to squeeze in a performance for the town she grew up in.

“I want to make sure that everyone gets to see what I’m up to, gets to hear everything I’ve been working on,” she said.

“I recorded 80 per cent of the EP in Byron Bay. I think I do lift the show a little more when I’m home.

“I’ve lived here my whole life – to have such a huge fan base it’s such a warm feeling.”
