Sunny days for Coast pair

GOLD Coast surfers Thomas Woods and Ellie Brooks have taken out their respective finals of the QCC Sunshine Coast Pro at Coolum Beach.

In the open men’s division, Woods (11.57) waited until late in the heat for the right waves, which paid off.

Brooks showed her experience to take the women’s title with a heat total of 9.06.

“I got pretty lucky with the wind,” said Brooks, who heads to Mexico next week in a bid to qualify for the world tour.
