That winning feeling starts to rub off at Bond

HOW good is winning?

“That’s the saying that is going around the team at the moment because the vibe has changed,” said Bond University captain Tai Ford after his side dispatched Wests 48-21 on Saturday at Scifleet Stadium.

It marked their third straight Queensland Premier Rugby win and completed a rapid rise from ninth place – ahead of their demolition of Norths the previous weekend – to fifth.

Coach Grant Anderson’s pre-season finals target seemed a stretch for the 2017 wooden spooners after they lost five of their opening six games. Now, they are just four points out of the top four.

“We are finally playing the footy that we are capable of,” Ford said.

“Everyone is enjoying being at footy, the coaches are walking around with big grins from ear to ear.

“People want to show up on Monday for the video session, people want to show up on Wednesday for training.

“I think now everybody believes that we have got a fair shot at finals.”

The Bullsharks’ resurgence has been driven by attack – they have scored at least 36 points in every match since the start of May. Six players found the tryline on Saturday.

“We have got threats running through the forwards now which is good and we have got threats all through the backline so every play that we are doing, whoever is getting the ball is a threat,” Ford said.
