Party grub to jailbird
A PARTY crasher who kicked a Columbian student in the head while he slept and punched another student 10 times will spend the next 12 months behind bars.
Jack Edward Berry pleaded guilty in Southport District Court yesterday to grievous bodily harm, assault and burglary by breaking in at night.
He was sentenced for four years jail with parole after serving one year.
The court heard Berry had arrived at a Surfers Paradise party held by Columbian students studying on the Gold.
Berry, who was represented by Moloney MacCallum Abdelshahied Lawyers, was asked to leave but returned, and smashed down a door.
He punched one student about 10 times before kicking another student, who was asleep on the court, in the head. The kick broke the students jaw and caused him to bleed from his ear. Berry then left the apartment.
He was ordered to pay $1300 to repair the broken door.
