Boston on top again

SOUTHPORT’S Andrew Boston is back atop the MVP standings in the NEAFL after picking up two votes in the Sharks’ loss to Gold Coast.

Two-time winner Matthew Payne (Aspley) has put his name among the contenders for this year’s award after polling maximum votes against Brisbane at Maroochydo­re.

The 32-year-old collected 35 disposals and five clearances on his way best-on-ground honours in the Hornets’ 19point victory on Saturday.

Boston is on 42 points and leads from Tom Bell (Brisbane) on 40, Mitch Maguire (Canberra) on 36 and Payne on 35.

Results are made public for the first 16 rounds but then held in secret until the winner is revealed on August 26.
